Could you do with a break from social media and messaging apps?
If this feels uncomfortable, it might help to communicate your intended break in advance to anyone who may usually be in contact, so you both know they'll use alternative means in case of anything urgent.
Then, you could try leaving your device in a different room or turning it off all together, and enjoying focussing your attention on something a little more mindful.
A lot of us use our phones to distract us from things we'd rather not do or be thinking about. Getting curious about what those things are and why that might be can be a really valuable exercise. Then you can address the reasons you're avoiding them and feel all the better for taking action rather than mindlessly scrolling.
These apps are intended to hook us in, which is why it can feel hard to disconnect, but our clients often report feeling a boost in their wellbeing when they seek personal connections and take intentional breaks from app-based ones.
If you're going to give this a try, we salute you. And we won't mind at all that you'll catch up on our posts i#socialmediah#socialmediabreak##breakupwithyourphoned#QCHe#connectionw#mindfulness #mindfullivingon #mindfulness #mindfulliving

These beautiful words are an excerpt from a poem written by QCH Therapist Gill Wood called "It's OK to be me – the journey from ELOC to ILOC".
You can read the full poem from the link in the first comment, and we highly recommend you do.
Finding your way from an external locus of control (where everything happening around you impacts your sense of being OK) to an internal locus of control (where your control comes from within) is a key part of the QCH approach.
Let us know when you've had a read and how it left you feeling 💜

Read Gill's beautiful poem here: www.qchpa.com/quest-hub/a-poem-its-ok-to-be-me/
This is so powerful Gill, thank you 💜
Gill Wood
Fabulous Gill!
Whether it be for the better or worse, what you look for you will find, and what you give attention to will grow.
If you choose to focus on only the negative, your mind will filter out any positive things that go against this choice. If you choose to notice and give your attention to the wonderful things in life, you will find more of these make it into your awareness.
Your Reticular Activating System (RAS) works incredibly hard in the background to only present information to you that is important to you and that reinforces your beliefs.
If you decide right now that positivity and joy are important to you, your RAS will help you find them.
Prime yourself to see the good that is all around you, and enjoy noticing more of those things each day.
What moments of joy did you notice today?

The Quest Cognitive Hypnotherapy Practitioners Association is a 200+ strong network of members all dedicated to providing truly evidence-based therapy.
The Association was set up in 2016 as a Community Interest Company following publication of our research evidence the year before.
The intention was to make it clear that QCH is a distinct approach to traditional hypnotherapy, to help as many of the public as possible to know about this approach, and to grow our community's competence by being a resource for their ongoing learning and professional development.
You can find one of our trusted QCH Therapists to suit your needs by searching for the QCHPA Therapist Find#QCH
