No. 6 of the 10 things to consider when choosing a therapist is all about accessibility.
Can you get to their therapy room and is the building accessible? Or would online sessions work better for you and your schedule and location?
Does the environment work for you? If your home is not a place you can relax and speak openly, you may prefer an in-person session elsewhere. Perhaps you'd prefer to log in to an online session from a different location? How do you best communicate with others?
Can you prioritise time for your sessions when the therapist has availability?
Consider all these as part of your decision-making process.
We'll be back with part 7 soon!

Whilst we can't control everything that happens around and to us, we can always control how we respond to it. And this goes for our thoughts as much as our actions.
Here are a few mindset shifts. Simple, powerful, and easier to achieve with daily practise.
Next time you find yourself negatively judging a situation, have a go at adjusting your mindset to a more positive, growth perspective.

10 things to consider when looking for a therapist
No. 4 Approach and Techniques
Depending on their training and approach, therapists adopt a variety of methods and techniques to help you towards your desired outcome.
When exploring therapist options, you'll want to understand what sort of approach they take and understand if it is evidence-based.
An open mind is always a good idea but you also want to ensure your preferences and needs can be met.
Quest Cognitive Hypnotherapy is an evidence-based model which enables our highly-skilled therapists to adapt to your needs.

If your feed is filled with smiley happy families casually strolling through perfectly arranged pumpkin patches and it's making you feel less than others in some way, remember social media never tells the full story.
🎃 That carefully selected photo doesn't show the battle it took to get the fancy dress on.
🎃 It doesn't show the muddy knees from slipping in the boggy field.
🎃 It won't show the photo the child refused to smile in or the exhausted parent who spent the morning corralling the kids away from the TV.
🎃 It won't highlight the breakfast drama before or lunch negotiation after.
🎃 Nor can you hear the concerned inner dialogue of the parent wondering how they'll muster up a week's worth of half term entertainment.
It will show a moment in time that may well have been beautiful in itself, but possibly surrounded by a messy reality that people often choose not to share.
Instagram and Facebook show the highlight reel. Never let what you see on here be a stick to beat yourself with as it's rarely the full story.
🧡
This photo was taken by Gemma, our QCH social media manager. You should see the photos that didn't make it to social media that day!
Does this resonate?

10 things to consider when choosing a therapist
No. 3 Online or local
Since the pandemic, even more therapists now offer online sessions via video call, as well as face to face sessions. In many areas this means you have the choice to either see someone in your local area for that in-person experience, or opt for the convenience and comfort of a session from a remote place of your choice.
There are pros and cons of either option. Which appeals to you? That will be a factor to consider when searching for the right therapist for you.
Explore local and online options on the QCHPA Therapist Finder at qchpa.com.
