Members must hold the Quest Diploma in Cognitive Hypnotherapy (HPD).

Members must also be a member of the CNHC or NCH.

As a member of the CNHC or NCH, you are required to abide by their codes and ethics. You must also undertake a minimum of 15 hours CPD per year, which can include additional training, workshops and reading.

Members should hold public liability insurance.

Every member with less than three years’ experience since qualification must be in contracted supervision with a QCH approved supervisor. Supervision and or Peer Support is highly recommended to all QCHPA members regardless of years of experience.

Members should show professional courtesy to other members at all times.

Over the years we have created a wonderful community of therapists, all of whom support each other and our reputation as evidence-based professional therapists. It is vital that this support and respect for each other and the reputation of our work as therapists’ continues, our motto being we are stronger together. Therefore, we reserve the right to withdraw membership without refund should a member fail to extend professional courtesy to another member.

Members should align with and support our brand’s message.

It is important to our members, our clients and our reputation that all marketing efforts made by our members support our brand’s message. If a member is marketing themselves in a way that the committee feels undermines the brand and our reputation or is misleading to the public in any way, that member will be required to make appropriate changes. Failing to make those changes could result in a suspension or withdrawal of their membership without refund.

Member Guidelines for Branding and Marketing.

Quest Cognitive Hypnotherapy (QCH) is founded on key principles that enable the most effective and long-lasting change for your client. QCH is more of a therapy mindset than it is a particular model of therapy; this means that as a Quest Cognitive Hypnotherapist you can use any number of therapeutic techniques, ideas and tools that align with the key QCH principles, which you feel support your client in achieving their outcome.

As a Quest Cognitive Hypnotherapist, you are permitted to use any technique, idea or tool that you are qualified to use. However, any use of techniques, ideas or tools that are not taught through The Quest Institute should only be used if they are completely aligned with the key principles of QCH and are in keeping with the client’s model of the world, not just your own.

These principles are:

  1. We work from the client’s model of the world, not our own. Nothing we believe to be true should need to be accepted by the client for them to improve. It is for us to align our skills with their beliefs. Our marketing needs to reflect our lack of dogma; that we have strong opinions, weakly held.
  2. All behaviour has a positive purpose, and people are doing the best they can with what they have available at that moment.
  3. People have everything they need to solve their issues.
  4. The ultimate purpose of therapy is to help the client develop an internal locus of control.
  5. All problems are created by TAOTM, and so are all solutions.
  6. Trance is an everyday phenomenon, and present in every problem.

For the research results to be deemed as a credible representation of the work of QCHPA members, it is vital that your approach mirrors the core principles of Quest Cognitive Hypnotherapy.

Equally, for the research results to be usable by members as a body, it is necessary for every member to market themselves in as unified a way as possible, to maintain the coherence of our organisation.

As a member of the QCHPA, we ask that you do not advertise yourself as a Quest Cognitive Hypnotherapist and… then a list of other things you feel you do. The use of ‘and…’ muddies the water for our brand and your potential clients and could diminish the credibility of the research.

For example, on the course, you are taught a technique called EFT. That does not make you a QCH and EFT Therapist, it means you can use the principles of QCH to apply EFT in numerous ways to support your client. The same would apply for any therapeutic techniques that support your work as a Quest Cognitive Hypnotherapist. A sole exception is coaching, as it’s taught by Quest as an activity that follows on from therapy, rather than being an equivalence to it, or technique within it. Regarding your individual marketing efforts, these requirements do not need to limit you, in fact, they can help your business grow. Your individuality can still shine through by the way in which you represent our core principles.

We are happy for you to share your non-QCH based qualifications on your About You page, so your clients can be made aware of the extent of your training and capabilities. However, it is fundamentally important that if they book a Quest Cognitive Hypnotherapy session what they get is QCH not some other form of therapy that doesn’t align with our core principles. However, you may link any additional qualifications to separate websites that inform your client about other services you may offer.

If you have any doubts or questions about what we would consider appropriate, please get in touch with your QCHPA approved supervisor or one of the QCHPA directors. We want to work with you and support you as best we can.

Do you want to be part of a thriving professional community?

Members of the QCHPA are people who thrive on the idea of building something special, take responsibility for their success and support their peers in the process.
